What Other Factors Besides Medical Care Determine Health?

This is in the context of the nationalized health care debate. I have frequently seen statistics cited in support of nationalized health care that states that health is better in nations that have such systems. The best answer to the question linked below quotes them and offers links to sources:http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…
Now, I don’t ask this as an apology for U.S. health care systems. I am directly familiar with the flaws of the system (as an aside: I don’t attribute them as free market flaws – how anyone could think of U.S. health care as a free market is beside me). Likewise, I have heard many horror stories of problems with socialized health care. Not living in such systems, I don’t know if they are exceptions or common.
Anyway, there are clearly other factors besides medical care that go into determining the health of a society. This article can get you started though I would like to know, specifically, if anyone knows of studies or observations of European societies that further explains their longevity.http://www.arthurhu.com/INDEX/lifeexpe.h…
One interesting not right near the start of the article is that U.S. Latinos have one of the greatest longevity rates despite greater poverty and less access to health care.

Hi, I’ve had bronchitis for i about 2 months now. just as i was getting better i thought it would be okay to do some exercise – think i overdid it and now im sick again. For the past week Im coughing up green stuff, my left ear is blocked and my glands on the left side of my neck are swollen. I’m also really tired. I am starting to get my appetite back though. Feeling guilty because i’ve missed 4 days work already. Should i see a private doctor for a second opinion or just let it get better over time by resting although i have been ill for so long?

I’m going to start my new job soon and my last day of employment is next week. HR told me that my medical insurance will be terminated on my last day. My new job’s medical will not start until 4 moths later.
What should I do with my medical in the next 4 months? Are employers required to cover the medical temporarily even after the employees leave? if not, what’s the most economical way to purchase out of pocket?

Doctors work hard, study hard, have student loans to pay and they have EARNED the right to practice medicine.
I am a little confused as to how Obama is going to provide health care to everyone.
Is Obama going to make doctors workers of the government and pay them on the GS scale???
Is he going to force them to take government insurance that doesn’t pay what the doctors care is worth?
How many doctors are going to want to stay in the profession when the government steps in a takes over?
Why would this question being deleted???
I think these are legitimate questions about his health care plan.
Can I not ask questions now?

I am a self employed person so I don’t have medical benefits like you would if you work for a company. I am paying well over $600 a month for medical insurance coverage as a business owner. Does anyone know of a program or something that offers cheaper insurance to business owners?

I’m 17 turning 18 in 3-4 months and was wondering what kind of job could I get in the hospital if I took a medical language course at my local community college because I heard from a friend of mine that I could get a job by taking the course but I don’t remember what kind of job. If you don’t know what other jobs in general are available to 17-18 year old in the hospital?
